Meet the DA

Jennifer Bray made history in January 2023 as the first woman ever elected District Attorney of Marshall County—but her impact runs far deeper than a milestone. With a reputation for leading with both strength and compassion, she is known not only for her legal expertise but also for the purpose and heart she brings to public service.

A graduate of the University of Alabama and Cumberland School of Law, Jennifer began her legal career in Marshall County in 2014 when she was hired by then-DA (now Attorney General) Steve Marshall. She quickly became a dedicated prosecutor in some of the most challenging cases, focusing on sexual abuse crimes. Her passion for justice was shaped by personal experience, and it continues to drive her commitment to protecting others.

As District Attorney, Jennifer leads with humility, resolve, and a tireless work ethic. Under her direction, the Marshall County District Attorney’s Office has launched and strengthened vital efforts addressing domestic violence, human trafficking, and victim advocacy. She collaborates closely with law enforcement and community organizations, serving on the boards of the Child Advocacy Center of Marshall County and the Marshall County Major Crime Unit. She also actively supports Domestic Violence Crisis Services, Covenant Rescue Group, and is a member of the Marshall Women’s Guild.

Jennifer is respected not only as a prosecutor but as a community leader and mentor. Her leadership style emphasizes integrity, fairness, and empowering others—whether it’s her staff, local youth, or victims seeking justice. She is known for making people feel seen, heard, and supported.

Outside the courtroom, Jennifer is a wife and mother who proudly juggles the demands of her role with everyday life. She is deeply committed to making a difference—both professionally and personally. We believe she leads with grace, grit, and an unwavering belief in justice for all.
