Colt Carroll Sentenced

Today was another day of justice being handed down in Marshall County. Following a sentencing hearing, Marshall County Circuit Judge Chris Abel sentenced Colt Carroll, 36, of Indiana, to life in prison plus 10 years, ordered to run consecutively, after a jury convicted him earlier this year of murder and abuse of a corpse.

Evidence at trial showed that Carroll brutally beat and strangled his girlfriend, Faleisha Thompson, in October 2023 before leaving her dead in a ditch. At the time of the murder, both Carroll and Ms. Thompson lived in Union Grove. The case was prosecuted by Chief Assistant District Attorney Ed Kellett and District Attorney Jennifer Bray.

District Attorney Bray stated:

“We continue to be grateful for Judge Abel’s commitment to victims and to holding offenders accountable when they are convicted of heinous crimes in this county. The sentence handed down today provides a path for Faleisha’s family to at least begin finding peace. We continue to pray for her family, especially her parents and daughters, who we know loved her dearly.”

The investigation was led by the Guntersville Police Department with assistance from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and the Marshall County Coroner’s Office. DA Bray praised the investigation as meticulous and thanked all agencies involved for their role in securing today’s sentence, specifically recognizing Guntersville Police Department Deputy Chief John East, the lead investigator on the case.
